The FTC is warning of an increase in scam e-mails and Bitcoin blackmail attempts. Reports of Bitcoin blackmail scams have taken a big jump in the last few weeks. The e-mails say they hacked into your computer and recorded you visiting adult websites. They threaten to distribute the video to your friends and family within hours, unless you pay into their Bitcoin account.

The best way to deal with phishing and other spam emails is to delete them on sight. Many of these emails will include a transparent, single-pixel image, known as a beacon.
